North side schedule changes rescinded

11/24/2015

Wow. What a debacle. The schedule changes for the North side have been rescinded and won't go into effect as previously planned. I captured those planned schedules and will keep them in my archive: http://www.dbperry.net/MBTA/

Here is the official MBTA announcement.

Here is the Boston Globe article about the situation.

Here is the Universalhub post about the situation. As usual, there are some really funny and really good comments after the Universalhub post.

In case you missed it, be sure to read Ari's blog post about the North side schedule changes. Very wise analysis.

I created a map of the line from Boston to Worcester. It includes all of the stations, along with important locations such as interlockings, control points ("CP"), and switches to other rail lines. Visit the Glossary for information on the terms used on the map.

Update: New Schedules not effective until Spring

11/8/2015

Today's "Starts and Stops" column in the Boston Globe confirms recent rumors: No new schedules for us until the spring.

"The new schedules for the trains that leave North Station will be available in the next two weeks, then take effect in mid-December. The schedules for trains that leave South Station will now be published in the spring."

Be sure to read "Starts and Stops" every Sunday in the Globe. Usually on page 2 of the Metro section. Great tidbits about transit related issues.

We'll have to see if the draft schedule that I was able to get my hands on is still the one put into effect in the spring.

I got ripped Off by the MBTA

This is just a bunch of whining about something that shouldn't be a big deal, but it bothered me. And I've got this blog, so I'm going to vent here!

1) This has NOTHING to do with Keolis or the Commuter Rail.
2) This is about $4.50. So it really isn't a big deal.

BUT:
1) This does involve the MBTA - more specifically the MBTA ferry system as well as the Mass DCR and LAZ Parking. You choose who should be most responsible.
2) It's the principle. There is no way I did anything wrong.
3) I followed all the rules and filed a clear and logical appeal within the appropriate time.
4) The fact that I got a ticket, and the fact that my appeal was denied, really proves some serious bureaucratic bungling. Sorry to fan the flames of discontent with the government and the MBTA here, but I can only report the facts...

The long story (after the "read more"):
